Permacrib is a structurally engineered crib walling system, utilising the long established gravity wall concept. Gravity retaining walls are designed to BS 8002. The patented lightweight interlocking timber crib walling components form a series of open cell modules. These are then filled with well graded stone to create the mass required to counteract the earth pressures and surcharge loadings. Structural integrity is achieved through the interaction of the crib elements and the granular fill.
Permacrib can also be used as a facing for reinforced earth or soil nailed embankments.
The combination patented treatment process and timber selection is guaranteed for 60 years against degradation by fungi and insect attack and provides a design life in excess of 125 years. The switch to Tanalith "E" preservative means that Permacrib is safe to use even in playgrounds.
Uses include simple landscaped walls and major civil engineering retaining structures. BBA certification verifies suitability for use. Additionally, Permacrib timber crib walling can be used to provide landscaped and aesthetically pleasing face to reinforced earth or soil nailed structures. It can also act as a facing to sheet pilling or concrete retaining walls, as well as creating vertical acoustic barriers.
